Solar Storm 2012

Solar storm is on our way

It is time for one more 11-year solar cycle and “the solar storm”. (No, the world is not going to end)

Solar Coronal Mass Ejection is moving towards us at 1,400 miles per second alongside a high solar proton even some calling is “proton storms” takes from 15 min to two or more hours from the time of visual detection to reach Earth means it has already reached.
Lovely Loops

When the CME reaches earth it causes a strong geomagnetic storm.  Which in effect for us shall cause particularly strong aurorae in large regions around Earth’s magnetic poles, possibility of awesome auroras at latitudes as low as New York. We may e experience disrupt radio transmissions and interruption of  satellites services like the GPS. On the higher side this can cause the onboard computers in satellite to reboot. This can also affect our electrical transmission line facilities, resulting in potentially up to massive power outage.

We may also experience temporary Interruption of high frequency radio communication systems used in air flight. Flight shall also avoid traveling in high altitude on their polar route so say out of these proton events as much as possible. The only unrecoverable problem would be a total hardware on board failure planes and satellites due to the proton storm, protons heading electronic components and killing it, which is very unlikely.

Coronal mass ejection (CME) is a massive burst of solar wind, other light isotope plasma, and magnetic fields rising above the solar corona or being released into space.[1] the shock wave of the traveling mass of Solar Energetic Particles .

Solar proton event(“Proton Strom”): occurs when protons emitted by the Sun become accelerated to very high energies either close to the Sun during a solar flare or in interplanetary space by the shocks associated with coronal mass ejections.
